Step-by-Step Guidance
Online Nikah Process
The safest way to arrange an online Nikah is to settle eligibility, identity, consent, representation and documentation before fixing the ceremony.
1. Initial Case Assessment
We first identify where the bride and groom are located, their nationality, age and current marital status. We also ask whether either party can attend in Pakistan and whether the marriage documents are expected to be used abroad. These facts determine whether the matter is a straightforward in-person Nikah, remote participation case or a matter requiring a Wakeel or special power of attorney.
2. Identity and Document Review
The parties provide suitable identity evidence such as CNIC, NICOP or passport copies and any additional material relevant to their circumstances. Previously married parties may need documents relating to divorce, khula or the death of a former spouse. Overseas documents may require attestation or other formalities before use in Pakistan.
3. Consent and Participation Method
Free and informed consent is essential. The participation method is settled before the ceremony. If a party is to act through a Wakeel, the authority and scope of representation should be clear. Where a written power of attorney is required, it should specifically cover the Nikah-related authority needed for that case.
4. Witness Arrangements
Witness requirements are reviewed according to the applicable religious and procedural circumstances. Couples should not assume that any person joining a call automatically satisfies every witness requirement.
5. Nikah Solemnisation
Once the parties, representatives and witnesses are properly arranged, the Nikah can be solemnised through the agreed method. Remote technology can facilitate communication, but it does not replace the substantive requirements of consent, authority, identity and witnesses.
6. Nikah Nama and Registration
The Nikah Nama should be completed carefully and accurately. Registration is a separate administrative step and should be followed through the competent local registration system. Couples needing documents for use outside Pakistan may also require certified translation, attestation, apostille/legalisation or other destination-country steps.
