What Online Nikah Means in Practice
“Online Nikah” is commonly used for a Nikah in which one or both parties participate remotely, or where a properly authorised Wakeel represents a party who cannot attend in person. It does not mean that every marriage can be completed by simply joining a video call. The correct arrangement depends on the parties’ locations, identity documents, age, marital status, consent, witness arrangements, religious requirements and the law governing registration.
Our role is to identify the workable route before the Nikah takes place. Where a Wakeel or special power of attorney is needed, the authority should be prepared correctly. Where personal attendance or additional documents are required, the couple should know this before making arrangements.
Online Nikah Process
We review where both parties are located, nationality, age, marital status and whether either person can attend in Pakistan.
CNIC, NICOP, passport or other identity evidence is checked along with any case-specific supporting documents.
The appropriate participation method is settled, including Wakeel or power of attorney arrangements where required.
The Nikah is solemnised through the approved arrangement and the Nikah Nama and registration steps are handled or guided accordingly.

Online Nikah Requirements
The exact requirements vary, but the usual starting points are legal capacity to marry, free consent, reliable identity evidence, suitable witnesses and clear information about each party’s marital status. Overseas cases may additionally require a special power of attorney, attestation, embassy or consular formalities, or other documentary steps depending on where the document is executed and how it will be used in Pakistan.

Online Nikah for Overseas Pakistanis and Muslims Abroad
Overseas enquiries often involve a bride or groom in the UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Europe, North America or another country while the other party is in Pakistan. Some couples are both abroad but want a Pakistan-based Nikah and documentation process. These cases need more careful coordination because the method of participation and the use of documents abroad can raise separate legal questions.

Nikah Nama and Registration
The Nikah ceremony and the documentary record are related but distinct steps. Couples should ensure that the Nikah Nama is completed accurately and that the appropriate registration route is followed. A computerised marriage registration certificate is a different document from the original Nikah Nama and is obtained through the competent local registration system.

Fees depend on the actual work required. A straightforward local case is different from a matter requiring overseas documents, special power of attorney drafting, Wakeel coordination, additional witness arrangements, urgent processing or post-Nikah documentation. We therefore prefer to identify the case structure before quoting a final fee.
